Intuition is your SUPERPOWER

Did you know, YOU have a SUPERPOWER? Yes, you have a built-in compass that will always point you to your path.

Hint: this compass is your heart.

Separate from the opinions of society, your loved ones, and your ego (the voice inside you that is driven by fear), there is another little voice, your authentic self, trying to get your attention. Many of us live our lives thinking we know what is best for us based on other people’s expectations or by taking the easiest path forward. But there’s a part of you that knows the truth.

How many times have you been faced with a decision and knew the answer but did the opposite out of convenience, fear, or to avoid disappointing someone? Please, for the love of humanity, stop that. That’s your ego taking over. Those are decisions based in fear, not in love. Your heart has the answer; it knows things the mind can't explain.

SO, HOW DO YOU ACCESS YOUR SUPERPOWER?

In a society that has conditioned us to look outside of ourselves for validation, how do we get back to the one opinion that matters most? Our own.

I tried my best to summarize my method with three simple statements that I use to remind myself to check-in with my heart. Here they are:

Observe your thoughts. Meditation and writing is the best way to do this. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, meditation is the most vitally important practice in my life. Creating space to hear my subconscious has helped me truly understand how I feel in really confusing situations. Aside from that, writing can be extremely therapeutic. There’s something cathartic about writing. Try this: write non-stop for a full page or a few minutes - see what comes up.

How do you feel in this moment? Beware of auto-pilot and work on being present. If you find you’re blindly making decisions just to get through the day, take a step back and consciously open yourself up. By doing this, you are allowing your authentic feelings and thoughts to come to light. When you ask yourself “how am I feeling in this moment?”, what do you hear? This brings me to my next statement.

Ask more questions. If you are feeling stressed, worried, confused, angry, low energy - ask yourself why. Always dig deeper. If something doesn’t feel right, pay attention - it’s your heart sending up a flare. Your decisions should make you feel good inside. When a decision makes you feel the opposite, it means you are misaligned with your heart’s desire. Always challenge yourself by being inquisitive.

Like a compass that always points north, your heart will always point you to your highest and greatest good: your true path. What makes the journey in life confusing is everything outside of ourselves.

I always think of this example when I get to talking about “authentic self”. When we are children we do, say and act how we please until an authoritative figure tells us to do differently. Children are pure because they are who they are until someone instills a belief or behaviour. Let’s return to that free-spirited feeling. Let’s de-conform. I’m not saying we should all act like children, but we should remember the purity of doing whatever our little hearts’ desire.

The only person who knows what’s best for you is YOU.
